William was born at Werribee, VIC in 1884 to Henry Dukelow and Fanny Beamish.
He was a shearer when he enlisted at Randwick, NSW in the AIF, 2nd Battalion, B Company, on the 27th of August 1914 - just a fortnight after the declaration of war - aged 30. William embarked from Sydney, NSW in October aboard the HMAT A23 Suffolk, disembarking in Egypt in December.
He is listed on the Roll of Honour for Bacchus Marsh, held by the RSL at Bacchus Marsh. He is also listed on the Honour Boards held at the Werribee RSL and the Church of England, Werribee (known as the Little River Honour Board)(2).
